Hatha Yoga Pradipika

HATHA YOGA

Essentially Hatha Yoga is a type of yoga where you move your body slowly and deliberately into different poses (or asanas) that channel your strength and flexibility while focusing on relaxation and mindfulness.

Through forging a powerful depth of concentration and mastery of the body and mind, Hatha Yoga gently reconnects you to your emotional, physical and spiritual self and is the most popular form of yoga, practised by around 30 million people in America alone.

The oldest surviving text on Hatha Yoga is the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, a Sanskrit classic written by Swami Swatamarama in the 15th century CE and provides an ancient explanation about asanas, pranayama, chakras, kundalini, bandhas, kriyas, shakti, nadis and mudras among other topics. An English transcript of the book is available to read.

The far-reaching benefits of regular yoga practice are transformative for whole being wellness. At Kamalaya Koh Samui Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa we incorporate yoga into many of our holistic programs and experiences. Multiple daily yoga classes take place in the most peaceful and beautiful parts of our resort and our expert yoga instructors are here to guide you through the discovery process and find a practice and yoga discipline that works perfectly for you.
