15th - 31st August 2019Please join us in welcoming back Dr. Harada and his unique sessions in Japanese Acupuncture, moxibustion and painless whole body alignment. The style of Acupuncture that Dr. Harada practices can be utilized to relieve any number of different bodily problems as well as be incorporated as a preventative medicine; to cultivate more ‘Qi’ (Energy) and improve relaxation and circulation. With twenty years of working in a clinical practice his experience will be an invaluable asset to Kamalaya over this period.
Chinese Acupuncture compared to Japanese Acupuncture
The difference between these two disciplines is very slight upon first glance; both follow the system of thought of influencing the meridian energy by using needles on certain points of the body. In general, Japanese practitioners use finer needles with the help of a guiding tube, stimulate more superficially and gently, and often do not consider the strong ‘de-qi’ sensation (a sensation of numbness, heaviness, or distention at the area of needle insertion) to be of primary importance.
Moxibustion is a form of fire heat treatment that stimulates specific acupuncture points of the body. The term is derived from the Japanese "mogusa" meaning herb (mugwort) and the Latin "bustion" meaning burning. Moxibustion therapy in conjunction with acupuncture can be very effective for many diseases and conditions including muscle stiffness, migraines, arthritis, digestive disorders and anxiety.
Dr Harada’s style of Acupuncture
For Dr. Harada the prime importance is that the patient is in a state of constant relaxation and calm throughout the session. Promotion of a safe atmosphere and a painless feather like touch when inserting his needles are all standard practices incorporated in his sessions. Dr. Harada does not leave the patient after all the needles have been placed upon the body. Instead he stays in the room and insures the healing process is carried out according to traditional diagnosis. He is also versed in the methods of Joint Mobilization as a technique used to increase the range of motion of an injured limb and also to align the articulating surfaces of a joint and to reduce joint play. The incorporation of all of Dr. Harada’s methods has the combined effect of balancing the autonomic nervous system, sustaining homeostasis, promoting wellbeing and increasing the natural healing capabilities within the individual.
Dr. Harada resides in Japan and acquired his Japanese national acupuncture license in 1988 along with studying ‘Joint mobilisation technique’. He has over 20 years in clinical experience and runs his busy clinic in Tokyo. His style is very unique with a soft feather like touch which promotes a ‘dancing like motion of energy circulation within the individual.’
