YIN & YANG YOGA with Cara Appleyard

Whilst everything in life has opposites, yin and yang are opposites that cannot be present without each other. Yoga practices applied with the correct intention can help balance these opposites allowing ourselves to reconnect to our natural balanced state.

In terms of a physical yoga practice, Yang Yoga focuses on muscular poses combining traditional yoga postures with circular and spiral movements which help honour our joints. Cara pays attention to safety and alignment which is essential when working with the physical body.

Yin Yoga includes passive, restorative postures offering the opportunity to explore Pranayama, Yoga Nidra and mindfulness. This approach to yoga is very beneficial for people recovering from, or living with injuries or illnesses. Restorative postures offer support to the body helping to nurture the body in a gentle yet effective way, bringing the body into balance and reducing stress that modern life can place upon us.

Cara is certified with The Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level and assists her principal teacher, Simon Low from the UK, on his trainings and retreats within Thailand. Cara has studied various styles of yoga including Jivamukti Yoga from America, Vibrant Living Yoga in Bali and Yoga Synergy from Australia. She has also taken workshops in Ashtanga Vinaysa Yoga and in anatomy awareness with Julie Gudmestad.

Cara’s teaching style is clear, fun and unique. She believes that yoga is not necessarily about learning to stand on your head, rather learning to stand on your own two feet! Cara encourages students to listen to their bodies and aims for students to feel energised with a sense of tranquillity to be taken with them after the class.

Cara offers guests at Kamalaya private classes for individual therapeutic needs or personal practice development and to absolute beginners wishing to have attentive private tuition.
