Holistic Fitness : Health & Optimal Fitness Programs Thailand

Kamalaya Koh Samui offers regular group classes and private sessions in a wide range of holistic fitness activities, including yoga, meditation, pranayama, Pilates, qi gong, tai chi and spirit dance. Throughout the year, there are also courses and retreats in some of these practices with experienced teachers from around the world. Complementing the resources for yoga, Kamalaya's Shakti Fitness Center provides a well-equipped gym with personal instruction in strength training, functional resistance training, Fit Ball and other exercise modalities, as well as weight training and cardio-vascular equipment for your complimentary use.


Yoga is a way of life based on ancient Indian philosophy, a way of integrating your whole being so that all aspects of your life work in harmony. Yoga is a complete system for living life and conscious evolution, thus helping to create balance in your life whilst creating a flexible mind, body and soul. Physical postures, breath, and meditation are the primary aspects of this practice. We offer a variety of yoga styles, including Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga, which can be enjoyed as group classes or private instruction. You also have the option of doing our Personal Yoga Synergy program, which combines customised personal yoga instruction with massage and Ayurveda therapies.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese discipline for health, relaxation, and meditation. Using gentle movements in combination with breathing, Tai Chi is great to release tension, maintain and enhance suppleness and tone, and promote a heightened integration of body, mind, and spirit.


Meditation is a graceful practice for harmonizing the mind and spirit. It enables you to direct your thoughts towards a peaceful outlook in everyday situations. With practice, stress is replaced by a deep sense of peace, happiness, and harmony.

Qi Gong

Qi Gong, 'Vital Force-Energy Cultivation', is based on ancient Chinese wisdom that promotes states of vibrant health physically, mentally, and spiritually. Qi Gong recognizes the body as a matrix of energy pathways through which the life force or "Chi" must flow smoothly in order to achieve and preserve dynamic health. Gentle movements, breathing practices, and meditation are all combined to bring about internal harmony.


Pranayama is the 'Science of Breath", the control of the vital force (Prana) in the air we breathe. Pranayama consists of slow, regulated deep breathing, which helps to calm the mind, balance the emotions, and reduce stress. During the session you will learn how to harmonize your breath and balance your energy.


Pilates is an innovative system of mind and body exercises. Pilates will develop good 'core stability' as well as encourage flexible muscles and joints, and teaches you to train using efficient patterns of motion in a safe and gentle manner.

Spirit Dance

Allow the body to feel and express emotions through free movements. Spirit Dance is a playful remedy to release tension and nurture the inner child.

A Personal Health and Fitness Profile can provide you with valuable feedback. A fitness professional will measure your aerobic capacity, flexibility, and balance. This helps Kamalaya provide you with a personalised program specifically for you to ensure maximum benefit for your Koh Samui health retreat.

A personal trainer is available throughout your stay to help guide you, give advice and support you during your Thailand health retreat.

Functional Reistance Training
Functional Resistance Training can be playful and is natural way to improve core strength and flexibility using fit balls and hoola hoops.

This sessions focuses on stretching the muscles, with a clear understanding of physiology and anatomy. The assisted stretches and strong pressure combine aspects of Thai massage and yoga to help to relieve muscular tension and promote circulation, warming up the body prior to exercising. This treatment is also an ideal follow-up to a yoga or exercise practice to deepen muscle flexibility.
