December, 2006
Tsoknyi Rinpoche III recently visited Kamalaya Koh Samui, where he shared traditional Tibetan Buddhist
teachings during a seven day retreat held from November 23rd to 29th, 2006.
Rinpoche's clear and light-hearted teaching style was inspiring and appreciated by
participants from all levels of experience.
"The retreat with Tsoknyi Rinpoche was profound in its simplicity and practicality.
It gave me a much deeper understanding of the nature of the mind and how to go beyond
the mind into heightened states of consciousness. His wisdom and compassion is evident
in his teachings and his sense of humor makes the experience a joyous one." -Karina Stewart
During the final day's lecture on November 29th, open to outside visitors, Tsoknyi Rinpoche presented
the benefits of meditation for achieving wellness of mind, body and spirit.
The essence of this open lecture dealt with what he refers to as the "subtle body", also known as the energy
body, and is the level most closely associated with emotions. Imbalances in the subtle body often
manifest as feelings of unhappiness and dis-ease. Tsoknyi Ripoche outlined the relationship between
emotional, mental, and physical health, and taught a simple yet effective breathing exercise to balance
the subtle energy body.
The lecture addressed universal challenges, and at the same time seemed to resonate with listeners on a
personal level, as a direct answer to individual issues:
"I integrated it directly into my work. It clarified for me what happens to the energy I am working
with and how I am helping my clients." -Martina Sager
"I found the Rinpoche's lecture to be useful, practical and extremely insightful. I've always
known that energy should be stored below the belly button, but Rinpoche is the first person to
explain why! I have practiced the breathing exercise he taught and found myself even more peaceful than before!
I am grateful to have been at Kamalaya during his visit. Where else can one detox and raise consciousness at once?
Thank you Kamalaya." -Laura Harring
Author of two books, "Fearless Simplicity" and "Carefree Dignity", Tsoknyi Rinpoche III is one of the leading
Tibetan Lamas teaching today. Specifically, his teachings are based on the Dzogchen tradition
(Great Perfection), and include both wisdom on the nature of mind-the awakened state from which
all difficulties naturally dissolve-and methods for realising it. His teachings are characterised
by a clarity and simplicity that make profound teachings accessible to everyone. Tsoknyi Rinpoche
plans to return to Kamalaya to offer additional retreats in 2007.
