Trinh's exceptional figurative works depict the exploration of human experience with remarkable method and dynamic expression. He uses color and mixed medium to build up a three dimensional medium which adds intensity to his work. He applies mother of pearl, sliver and gold leaf and even eggshell to achieve a brilliant and multi-layered medium.
Trinh offers aesthetic richness in his work and evokes curiosity in most viewers. Whether two figures are joined in an embrace or depicted with their backs against each other, Trinh has a remarkale ability to tell a story about love, loneliness, betrayal or arcane emotions. The artist questions what is real and what is an illusion. His scenes have a wonderful capacity to evoke unworldly beauty while simualtansouly including bits of reality such as landscape and titles bearing the words "My Home", "I still Love You" and "Life". There is often a golden aura that shines behind the heads of his subjects, a mysterious touch that brings light and warmth to his art and perhaps symbolises hope or resolve.
Trinh is adored by his students and rightfully honoured as one of the top lacquer artists in Vietnam. Many of Trinh's followers claim that his sense of humour is equally balanced with his sensitivity towards human emotions. It is no surprise that his paintings are in several collections, among them, in the collection of the National Art Gallery of Malaysia. Apart from being meticulous and labour intensive works, Trinh's paintings are admired internationally because they are simply beautiful.
