  1. Where is Kamalaya located?
    Kamalaya is located on the South Eastern side of the tropical island of Koh Samui.

  2. What beach is Kamalaya located at?
    Kamalaya is located adjacent to Laem Set Beach, a small, peaceful cove.

  3. How far is Kamalaya from Koh Samui airport?
    The distance to the airport is about 25km, about a 45 minute drive.

  4. Are there direct flights available from Bangkok, Hong Kong or Singapore?
    Yes, there are direct flights to all three cities. Please visit www.bangkokair.com for their current flight schedule and airfares.

  5. Which airline flies to Koh Samui?
    Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways are flying to Koh Samui. Please visit www.thaiair.com and www.bangkokair.com for their current flight schedule and airfares.

  6. Do you provide air ticket booking assistance?
    We do not provide booking assistance. Please visit www.thaiair.com or www.bangkokair.com for further information on available flights etc.

  7. Do you have representative offices overseas?
    We do not have any representative offices overseas. However, we are represented by a few specialized tour operators.

  8. What is your check-in and check-out time?
    Check-in time:   14:00
    Check-out time: 12:00

  1. How many guest rooms do you have?
    60

  2. When is the rainy season for Koh Samui?
    The rainy season for Koh Samui island is usually between mid-October until mid-December.

  3. What are your opening hours for the Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa?
    Opening hours for the Spa are from 9.00 until 20.00 hrs.

  4. What facilities do you provide in the guest rooms?
    All of Kamalaya's accommodation include the following:
    • Air-conditioning
    • CD & stereo system
    • Refrigerator
    • Beverage & snack facilities
    • Personal safe
    • Telephone & internet connection
    • Hair dryer


  5. I know that there is one general computer where people can check e-mails etc, but is there WiFi in the rooms in case people bring their own laptops? If so, what are the charges for this?
    We have a computer with email access/wifi in the Library. Wifi is also available in all rooms. Prepaid cards are available for purchase at Reception, 450 Thai Baht for 3 hours.

  6. I think I remember that you don't have TVs in the rooms but guests can request for one to be put in if they want - is this right?
    Yes, we have televisions and DVD players we can install upon request, however there is no reception in accommodation for television so the TV unit is for watching DVDs only. As we only have 6 units available, confirmation is based on the availability at time of booking confirmation. We have a large screen TV available to watch TV programs and movies in the Library, which is open 24 hours.

  7. If people did want to go out for a drink / nightlife would they have to go to Chaweng? How long would this take in a taxi?
    Chaweng is one of the areas for that, and it would take about 30 minutes, approx TB600 for a taxi.

  8. Do you have a shuttle bus service available to the next bigger town such as Lamai or Chaweng?
    No, there is no shuttle bus service available. However, we can provide a taxi service for you.

  9. Where will the main meals be served?
    Meals are served at Soma Restaurant and Amrita Café. Kamalaya cuisine offers menu options for all dietary preferences, from delicious salads and raw food preparations to fresh seafood, poultry and selected wines.

  10. Do you serve meat in the restaurants or is it just vegetarian and fish?
    Yes, we have a variety of meat and poultry dishes available, including barbequed lamb, as not all guests are here for weight loss or detoxification.

  11. What is the dress code in your restaurants?
    The dress code is casual, relaxed clothing.

  12. Do you make special plans for holidays such as Christmas and the New Year?
    Yes, there is a festive program of activities and special menus during holidays. Visit events for information about special activities.

  13. What languages does your staff speak?
    English, Thai, French, German, Mandarin and Spanish.

  14. What is the cost of a 3 day retreat?
    Prices vary depending on the type of retreat, and start at USD 550.

  15. What is the cost of a 7 day retreat?
    Prices vary depending on the type of retreat, and start at USD 1,200.

Activities / Excursions:

  1. What activities are available?
    The following activities are available to all guests at Kamalaya:
    • Creativity - an easel, paints and art materials may be brought to your room, in addition to mandalas for coloring. Mandala means 'sacred circle' in the ancient language of Sanskrit. Coloring mandalas can be a meditation or simply fun.
    • Games - chess and backgammon board games are available.
    • Movies - An interesting collection of travel, cultural and educational documentaries, and an inspiring library of mind-opening movies, old favourites and comedy classics are available to watch in your room, or on the Library's large screen TV.
    • Fitness and vital energy classes - visit the Shakti Fitness Centre or try a vital energy class. Choose from different styles of yoga, pilates, tai chi, chi gong, stretching and meditation. Visit the fitness daily timetable.
    • Morning walks and adventure hikes offer stunning views, coconut palms and Samui wildlife.
    • Island excursions, kayaking, cycling, golf and tennis can also be arranged.


  2. If I decide to sign up for a special program, such as Detox, will there still be sufficient time to join your fitness classes?
    Yes, your treatments can be scheduled in such a way that you will still be able to enjoy our activity classes.

  3. What are the options for swimming?
    Kamalaya has a lap pool and also a relaxation pool by Amrita café, just minutes from the beach for swimming, and three smaller plunge pools by the Steam Cavern in the Wellness Sanctuary, overlooking the coast. All pools are chlorine free and naturally treated. Kamalaya opens onto a tranquil beach, with secluded stretches for bathing in both directions. Rubber shoes are provided at the beach, it offers options for exploring the coral and marine life visible in the shallow water.

  4. Do you have activities for children?
    Colouring sets can be provided. Kamalaya's beach is very quiet and the water at most times quite shallow. Furthermore, there are two swimming pools. Babysitting service can be provided at extra cost. Please note that children under 16 are not permitted to join wellness programs or retreats.

  5. Do you organize activities/excursions outside of Kamalaya?
    Yes, we can organize activities such as golf, island safaris, etc.

  6. Do you organise boat trips?
    Yes, we can organise day sightseeing-snorkelling boat trips to the following locations close to Koh Samui:
    Angthong National Marine Park and Koh Tao (includes Koh Nangyuan, a tiny island attached to Koh Tao)
    The price for each destination is Thai Baht 2,000 per person and includes the marine park admission fees, snorkelling equipment rental and lunch.

  7. Is golf available?
    Yes, we do have a nice golf course on Koh Samui, about 45 minutes drive from Kamalaya.

  8. a) Is tennis available?
    Yes, we do have tennis on Koh Samui.

    b) If tennis is possible, will it just be access to courts or will there be a tennis coach; what are the related costs?

    Rates are as follows:
    Court: 250 THB++ per hour (subject to availability)
    Coaching: 500 THB++ per hour
    Transport: From Kamalaya, 1, 000 THB net per way, per vehicle

  9. Is sailing available?
    What is the approximate cost (including transfers) for:
    a) a few hours
    b) 1/2 day sailing
    c) full day sailing:
    800 THB++ per hour

Detox

  1. Do I need to prepare myself in any kind of way for the Detox prior to my arrival at Kamalaya?
    No, there is no need for you to prepare in any special kind of way. Just eat and exercise as per your normal routine.

  2. Do you offer medical services?
    Yes

  3. Do you offer Colonic Irrigation?
    Yes

  4. Do you offer assistance with the Colonic hydrotherapy session?
    Yes, one of nurses will be assisting during your Colonic Irrigation.

  5. Can I do a Colonic hydrotherapy session every day?
    We recommend a Colonic irrigation about every 3 days, not more frequently than this as it does not give the body enough time to recover in between.

  6. Do you offer water fasts?
    No

  7. Do you offer juice fasts?
    Yes

  8. Would you describe your Wellness center as a suitable place for someone who wants to fast for spiritual/religious reasons?
    Yes

  9. Do you offer health courses?
    Yes, Kamalaya hosts health related retreats with world-renowned teachers throughout the year. Upcoming retreat topics include yoga, detoxification, and spirituality from different traditions. In addition, in-house practitioners lead detoxification and other life-enhancement programs. Kamalaya instructors also lead group and personal yoga classes and for both novice and advanced practitioners. Styles offered are Ashtanga Vinyasa, Kundalini, and Hatha, along with pranayama and meditation. Holistic Fitness practices include pilates chi gong, tai chi, and spirit dance. Individual fitness testing is available, along with personal strength resistance training, guided hikes, kayaking and beach volleyball.

  10. Do you offer yoga classes?
    Yes. Styles include Hatha Vinyasa, Kundalini, and Ashtanga yoga, in addition to meditation and pranayama.

  11. What complementary therapies do you offer?
    Holistic medicine such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, naturopathy, nutrition, homeopathy and Western medicine. Complementary therapies such as Chi Nei Tsang (Taoist abdominal massage), lymphatic drainage massage, cranio-sacral massage, reiki, and sound therapy. Facilities also include the latest equipment to support detoxification such as also colonic hydrotherapy with ozone and far-infrared saunas.

  12. Do you offer iris analysis (Iridology)?
    No
